Prof. Dr. D.N. Parajuli

Dean

At the outset, as the Dean of the Faculty of Law (FoL), Tribhuvan University (TU), I would like to extend my warmest greetings and welcome to our learned students, esteemed faculty members, staff, stakeholders, and other officials. The Faculty of Law at Tribhuvan University occupies a special place in the legal education and legal profession due to its long history and association with Tribhuvan University since 1959 A.D.  The journey of the Faculty of Law, from Law College to the Institute of Law and eventually to the Faculty of Law, has witnessed many ups and downs. However, dedication and commitment to legal education have helped prepare the human resources the country needs. Legal education has always played a substantial role in addressing the changing needs of the country and its governance. With this vision, FoL has continued to offer and expand various academic programs in response to market needs and other considerations. At present, FoL caters Ph. D, LL.M., LL.B., and B.A. LL.B. programs, thereby diversifying legal education across major areas of legal studies. This diversification has helped us uphold the values of inclusion, access, and social justice.

The Faculty of Law (FoL) is supported by a strong team of members who are leading experts in their respective fields. Most of our faculty members have served for many years with significant engagement in both academic teaching and legal practice. Their dedication has enabled the Faculty to produce competent and talented human resources for the legal fraternity and for the Government of Nepal as well. Regular interactions and discussions among faculty members and university officials have also helped the Faculty communicate effectively and respond to the broader demands of the legal market while maintaining the core objective of serving justice. The diversity we experience across our constituent campuses, along with the enthusiasm of our students for learning legal education and their dedication to serving the country, is one of the greatest assets of the Faculty. FoL strongly believes in the fundamental values of legal education, and follows standard methods of learning, research, and communication in legal studies. Our commitment to impartial policies and ethical engagement has contributed to creating a safe and supportive environment for learners, faculty members, and other staff serving within the FOL.

Most law schools/colleges today face major challenges in addressing and engaging with new technologies, transforming conventional pedagogies into modern methods of learning, and incorporating emerging areas of legal study so that legal education remains meaningful and relevant. As science and technology continue to expand rapidly, their impact on legal education and legal institutions is becoming increasingly direct and profound. In this context, FoL has developed dedicated plans and strategies to cope with and address these emerging challenges in legal education. Constructive dialogue between students and faculty members on the important relationship between law and technology in the emerging era has been actively encouraged and carefully observed in line with ongoing developments. FoL strives to respond to both academic and practical needs by incorporating scientific and interdisciplinary approaches required for the holistic development of legal education.

FoL also serves as a hub for exploring new insights and addressing critical issues that are complex and challenging at the global, regional, national, and local levels. The constituent campuses of the Faculty empower students to comprehend and engage with contemporary issues in law and society. The Faculty of Law remains committed to responding to these changes and challenges. We resolutely adhere to our core values while striving to maximize our impact across various sectors, including the judiciary, bureaucracy, academia, the social sector, and other areas of public and professional life.

As the Dean of the Faculty of Law (FoL), Tribhuvan University, I pledge to uphold academic honesty, integrity, transparency, and good governance, while adhering to the fundamental purpose behind the establishment of Tribhuvan University and its Faculty of Law. I humbly request your continued support, cooperation, and constructive suggestions for the further development and betterment of the Faculty.
